IND vs ENG: Alex Hales, Ben Stokes, & Mark Wood key players for England, India needs to be wary – Hales is the bankable player at the top for England. He allows Jos Buttler to go bang from the word go. Hales plays the anchor role with perfection and his hunger at the top is insatiable. Ben Stokes is England’s talisman, impacting games with bat and ball. Although the southpaw was struggling with the bat in hand registering five single-digit scores, he found some form with the bat before the semis.

Wood has been consistently clocking 150kmph and is hustling batters with sheer pace. Sri Lanka, New Zealand, & Ireland faced trouble facing the speedster. Wood is also accurate with his line and lengths.

Here at InsideSport, we decode why Hales, Stokes, and Wood are extremely dangerous for the Indian Cricket Team in semis

1. Alex Hales

Since making a comeback to the England side, Hales has looked assured at the crease. The right-hand batter is mixing caution with aggression, and making sure he is not throwing his wicket away. Hales has scored 125 runs in four matches so far during T20 World Cup 2022. After missing out on the first two games, the veteran has bounced scoring 52 and 47 against quality teams New Zealand & Sri Lanka.

The 33-year-old can switch gears seamlessly and hit the ball miles. If Hales gets to start, he makes sure to capitalize on it. The opening batter also gets runs at a decent strike rate of 137 and is a good player of both pace and spin.

2. Ben Stokes

England’s Test captain thrives on challenges, he never backs off, and that is what makes him special. A out-of-form Stokes will also produce an exceptional display in the field, with bat and ball. That much trust England have on him. Stokes has not looked at his lethal best in the T20 World Cup 2022 so far. But rule him out of your own peril. The southpaw got back to some form with a match-winning unbeaten 42 in England’s must-win game against Sri Lanka. That knock would have given him some relief after three single-digit scores.

With the ball in hand, Stokes has taken five wickets at a good economy rate of 8 runs per over. Stokes has unfinished business against India & T20 World Cups. This time, the talismanic all-rounder would like to settle scores.

3. Mark Wood

Mark Wood is setting the speedometer on fire by consistently clocking 150kmph. He has rushed batters with sheer pace. The fast bowler has picked up nine wickets at an economy rate of 7.5 runs per over. He has proven to be deadly in the power play. The English pacer not only has a good bouncer but also has a deadly yorker. Wood does not often give width to batters and is pretty accurate. Not only in the power play, but Wood is also lethal at death. His two overs in the power play would be very crucial for India’s opening batters to see off.
