Sarfaraz Khan has had an excellent start to his international career. The batter from Mumbai set the ball rolling with an aggressive half-century on the first day of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Sarfaraz after the match said it was his dream to don the national jersey in the presence of his father.
Sarfaraz had to wait for long in spite of scoring tons of runs in the domestic circuit. The Mumbai batter scored for India A against England Lions and gained a call-up to the India squad for the last three Tests of the 5-match series. Sarfaraz was handed the Test cap ahead of his debut by Anil Kumble.
Although the batter is new to the international scene, he showed no signs of nerves and hammered the England bowlers all around the park to bring up his half-century in just 48 balls.
Speaking to the press after the day’s play, Sarfaraz said, “Bahut accha laga, my father was here when I received the cap. It was my dream to play for India in front of him.”
“I was padded for four hours but told myself that I have kept so much patience, time to keep more,” Sarfaraz said.
Sarfaraz also revealed he asked Ravindra Jadeja to talk to him in the middle. “I told Jaddu bhai to keep talking to me while I bat since I like talking while batting. He supported me a lot today while batting. There was nervousness early on but it felt normal after that,” added Sarfaraz.
