IND vs ENG: ‘Pitches will turn…’ Jonny Bairstow cautions over spin friendly pitches can hamper Team India

IND vs ENG: Jonny Bairstow claims excessive spin friendly pitches can cause India problem

Ahead of the IND vs ENG Test series, England Cricket Team star batter Jonny Bairstow has commented on India’s pitches. The wicketkeeper batter claimed that if India provides overfriendly spin pitches from Day 1 then they will negate their pace attack. Bairstow has credited that the India Cricket Team boasts of having a very strong pace attack.

The destructive English batter believes that if the pitches during the 5 match Test series starts turning from Day 1 that will be a problem for India. He went on to claim that too much spinning tracks can negate India’s strong pace line-up.

“Look, I’m sure the pitches will turn: it’s whether or not they’ll turn from day one, which potentially negates a bit of their strength in their seam attack. We know how strong they are,” Jonny Bairstow told Sky Sports.

“India can produce different pitches: it doesn’t have to turn. We’ve seen how potent their seam attack has been recently,” Bairstow added.

India are slated to face England for a 5-match Test series. The series is extremely important for both sides given that crucial World Test Championship (WTC) Points are at stake.

After drawing the 2-match Test series against South Africa, India will look to dominate Ben Stokes’s England at home. Team India will look to extract every bit of home advantage for the 5-match series. If India prepares rank turner pitches then they can field 3-4 spinners and disrupt England’s batting order.

“Obviously, the last time Axar and Ashwin played well. You forget that in that first Test match, the guys played really well, Rooty (Joe Root) got a double in the first Test match in Chennai and then conditions changed quite drastically,” Bairstow concluded.

England Squad For Test vs India: Ben Stokes (captain), Rehan Ahmed, James Anderson, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow (wicketkeeper), Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Tom Hartley, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Mark Wood.
