The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against England on Saturday, January 18. This squad will largely remain the same for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with the exception of Jasprit Bumrah, who is not part of the England ODI series. In his place, Harshit Rana has been included for the ODI series.
Opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has received his maiden ODI call-up, while fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been surprisingly left out of the squad. India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli will return to the ODI format after a six-month hiatus, with their last ODI series being against Sri Lanka in August 2024. Both players have struggled with form in Test cricket recently and will be keen to perform well in the ODIs.
IND vs ENG ODI series starts on Feb 6
The team includes four spinners: Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul have been named as the wicketkeepers.
The three-match ODI series will commence on February 6, with matches scheduled in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad. This series will serve as final preparation for the Men in Blue before the Champions Trophy 2025, which begins on February 19.
