IND vs ENG: India vs England Day 1 synopsis
Day 1 of the 3rd Test belonged to England. Joe Root & Co dominated with the ball, bowling India out for a paltry 78-run total while with the bat Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns smashed a half-century each to post 120 at stumps on Day 1 to take a 42-run lead against Virat Kohli’s India.
Virat Kohli’s decision to bat first proved to be a big failure as James Anderson rattled India early on. Within the 1st hour, the England veteran sent KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli back, leaving the visitors in deep trouble. While Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma carried on for a while, India had more humiliation left. Wickets fell like tenpins.
