In the last ODI series against West Indies, there was no Mohammed Shami or Jasprit Bumrah. Instead Mohammed Siraj, Shardul and Prasidh led the attack. All three did brilliantly. But now, they will have to make way for Bumrah and Shami.
IND vs ENG LIVE, 1st ODI: Who will get the nod for 1st ODI?
- It is likely that India will go with three frontline pacers besides two spinners and a seam-bowling all-rounder in Hardik Pandya.
- Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are set to take the first two slots.
- With that, India will have a third pacer’s slot open with as many as four pacers competing.
- In Shardul, India will get a No 8 batter who can even win the team matches. Shardul has excellent batting records in England as well.
- But on flat tracks, he hasn’t been able to contain runs and that could go against him.
- In Arshdeep’s defence, he has an excellent debut to boast about. In the 1st T20, he looked excellent returning with two wickets.
- As he has been given an ODI call-up for the West Indies tour, Arshdeep will be in plans of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid.
- The third pacer on the list is Prasidh Krishna.
- The fast bowler has been impressive since IPL. But he did not get an opportunity in the 5th Test.
- As he is in the scheme of things, it is likely that he will get the nod ahead of Arshdeep and Shardul and even Siraj.
- Apart from that, he has been in excellent form in ODIs, taking 12 wickets in 4 matches including a four-fer. He has been economical as well, conceding at just 3.43 runs an over.
