The English skipper came to crease following the dismissal of the top 3 English batters. He went on to steady the helm for the hosts after making a cautious start at Old Trafford. Determined not to lose any wickets, Buttler carried on as he scored a fine half-century. However, his innings were brought to a close when a short delivery of Hardik Pandya hit the top of Buttler’s bat and didn’t carry the distance. But it was Ravindra Jadeja who pulled off a stunner to take an exceptional diving catch to dismiss the English skipper.
A short-pitched delivery forced Buttler to go and hit the ball into the air in a bid to clear the fences. Buttler mistimes and the ball hits the top end of the bat to take a weird ariel route. In what appeared to a normal eye, that the ball would drop on no one’s land, it was Ravindra Jadeja who was spotted sprinting from the deep square leg. Jadeja then executed a fine running catch to end England’s proceedings.

Buttler’s wicket was of extreme importance. The England skipper was well settled on the crease and would have gone on to add more 30-40 runs to England’s innings. India bowled out England for 259 in the all-important series decider of the India Tour of England ODI series.
