IND vs ENG: Why Saba Karim feels Rohit, Kohli, and KL Rahul are not indispensable anymore

  • Kohli and Rohit had a horrible IPL 2022 season scoring 341 and 268 runs respectively. Rahul performed well for LSG by scoring 600 plus runs.
  • Rahul’s strike rate of 135.38 though was questioned by the critics. Apart from IPL, the trio have also not performed consistently in T20Is in recent times.
  • The trio also had a horrible T20 World Cup in 2022 which resulted in the exit of India in the first round itself.
  • Rohit has scored 155 runs in 9 T20I matches at a strike rate of 123. While Kohli has scored 186 at a strike rate of 130.
  • Rahul has scored more runs than the duo but the strike rate of 135 is being questioned by critics.
  • There are backup openers Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad waiting in the wings. The former was the leading run-getter in the T20 series against South Africa.

The players whom you have named enough experience to make the required changes in their batting so that it is beneficial for the national side. I’m sure they understand the needs of modern T20 batting,” he added.
