While the eyes were on Jacob Bethell, Tom Prest, Yash Dhull and Ravi Kumar, it was the right-arm seamer who delivered. After Ravi Kumar dealt the early blow, it was Raj Bawa show. With that, Raj Bawa became the first Indian to bag a five-wicket haul in an ICC tournament final.

Wicket 1: His first victim was George Thomas. His fast full-length wide off the off-stump delivery had Thomas itching to go for a big one. But he misjudged it and gave away a catch to Yash Dhull.

Wicket 2: Will Luxton was his next victim and it was a fantastic delivery. In the line and perfect length and it forced Luxton to play a cut shot but could only edge it for Dinesh Bana behind the stumps.

Wicket 3: George Bell soon departed in his next delivery with Bawa’s ripper of a delivery. Short delivery and Bell misjudged the ball completely and gloved it for Bana.

Wicket 4: The fourth one took time to come but it was another delivery that Raj Bawa forced Rehan Ahmed to edge. Rehan looked to defend a slightly widish delivery and edged it to Kaushal Tambe in the slip.

Wicket 5: Raj Bawa wrapped up the innings up by sending Joshua Boyden. Dinesh Bana was the catcher once again as he completed the fifer with another full-length delivery outside off-stump, forcing Boyden to play. Boyden could only manage a nick as Raj Bawa became the first Indian to bag a fifer in an ICC tournament final.

Thanks to Raj Bawa’s 5/31 and Ravi Kumar’s 4/34, England crumbled, posting 189 in 44.5 overs. James Rew was the lone ranger for England with a gutsy 95 that helped them stead after Raj Bawa’s supreme spell.

Bawa won the player of the match for his all-round efforts after he chipped in with a vital 35 in India’s chase. Speaking after the game, the young Indian said, “Always feels special to win any game, but to do it in the final is a great feeling. Just went out to execute the plans we discussed with the coach and captain.”
