Hardik Pandya returned with his best bowling figures in ODIs as the Indian all-rounder registered his best bowling figures on Sunday. With India facing a must-win situation, Pandya put in an epic performance, rocking the England middle order with a fine spell of bowling. After Siraj had struck twice early, Jason Roy and Ben Stokes resurrected the innings with a fine partnership.

India in desperate need of wickets sought out Pandya, and the all-rounder delivered a double breakthrough dismissing both set batsmen at Old Trafford. Not only did Hardik bag the wickets, but he also bowled a tight spell, giving nothing away from the batsmen.
Pandya once again returned later in the innings with another double strike, this time getting the better of Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler in the same over. The Gujarat Titans captain finished his spell of seven overs with 4/24, as England were shot down for 259. It is Pandya’s best bowling effort in ODIs.
“I had to bend my back a bit, change my plans, realised that this was not the wicket to go full — and go for the short-ball, use it as a wicket-taking delivery,” Hardik said after his excellent effort with the ball.

Hardik Pandya then walked into bat with India struggling at 72/4, the all-rounder stitched a fine 133-run partnership with Rishabh Pant. Pandya took the attack to the opposition and scored a quick-fire 50 to put India in the driving seat. The 28-year-old was eventually dismissed for 71, in a match-defining knock.
