Ind vs Eng: Amid the ongoing tussle between ECB and BCCI, secretary Jay Shah has confirmed to the England Cricket board that India will play a couple of extra T20Is during the tour of England next year. But, there is a condition, he wants the ECB to resolve issues with India regarding the cancellation of the final test at Manchester.

“It is correct that we have offered to play two extra T20Is when we visit England next July (only for the white-ball games). Instead of three T20Is, we will play five T20Is. Alternately, we will be willing to play one-off Test as well. It is up to them to choose either of the offers,” Jay Shah told Cricbuzz.

A chaotic development took place between the BCCI and ECB following the cancellation of India vs England final Test at Manchester with ECB claiming losses worth Rs 306 crore (approx). The development took place amid the COVID-19 breach in the India camp with as many as 4 members testing positive for COVID-19, including head coach Ravi Shastri.

Ind vs Eng: As per DailyMail, the offer is designed to help ease a potential shortfall of £40million in English cricket’s already stretched budget.

Meanwhile, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly wants the final test to be part of the India vs England series and not a one-off Test.

“We want the series to be completed as this will be our first series win [in England] since 2007,” Ganguly told PTI.

Apart from Shah, Ganguly too had earlier confirmed the possibility of playing additional T20Is.

“We are ready to play extra ODI and T20Is and that’s not an issue. Just that the Test match that will be played later will be the fifth match of the series,” it added.

Notably, England men will play all of their home white-ball matches in July against India in 2022. As per the schedule released by the ECB, India will begin the T20 International series at Old Trafford on July 1 before matches at Trent Bridge (July 3) and the Ageas Bowl (July 6). A three-match ODI series follows with games at Edgbaston (July 9), the Oval (July 12) and the Lord’s (July 14).
