Writing in his column for The Telegraph, James Anderson signnalled why he’d be intent on going one over Kohli again and the idea behind his animated celebration after the Indian captain’s dismissal. Anderson wrote, “When I got Kohli out in the first innings in Leeds there was a lot of emotion. It was the same as at Trent Bridge. I guess there is that extra something with him because he is such a good player and their captain as well. You see how much it means to him when his team takes a wicket so I want to show him what it means to us to get him out.”
James Anderson has got Virat Kohli out seven times in his career, two of which came in this series. During India’s embarrsing first innings collapse at Headingley, it was Anderson who sent back Kohli with a ripper to trigger the downfall. While Kohli did score a half-century in the second innings, the Indian captain was very measured in his approach against Anderson.
