IND vs ENG: England spinner Leach to undergo knee surgery after getting injured in Hyd Test

IND vs ENG: Jack Leach is the most experienced England spinner, having picked up 126 wickets in 36 Tests.

Ace England spinner Jack Leach, who had suffered a knee injury during the first India vs England Test in Hyderabad, will undergo a surgery. The left-armer had to return home after had injured his left knee on the first day of the series itself, and was later ruled out.

Leach, who was making a comeback in the series, after a back injury layoff suffered during the Ashes 2023, will have to go under the knife to get his issues sorted, he confirmed on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I’m going to have an operation to get the rest of the swelling out because it’s not budging,” he said. “It was quite an unfortunate one. It was the second ball of the first innings in the field so that whole game I was playing with this knee problem.

“I obviously knocked it a few times throughout that game, and it has just created a long period of recovery. I need to get the operation done and then hopefully I can get back to playing cricket. I’d love to have a run of playing cricket and getting into a bit of a rhythm again and hopefully that can happen again once I’ve got this sorted.”
