England pacer Ollie Robinson calls India’s Jasprit Bumrah the ‘best in the world’ currenty. The bowler’s remarks on his Indian counterpart come ahead of IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Robinson, who has been on the sidelines for the first two Tests, reveals how he went gaga at Vizag as he witnessed Bumrah bowl.
IND vs ENG: How Bumrah inspires Robinson
The now world famous yoker to Ollie Pope is one of Robinson’s favourite Bumrah deliveries. The other is the slower ball that led to a caught and bold that dismissed Ben Foakes.
“The way he got Popey out, I was like, ‘Oh my, this guy’s a joke.’ And then he got Foakesy out with a slower ball and I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, can this guy get any better?’” Robinson said. “You watch him and you think, ‘Wow, he’s good.’ And then there’s something else where you think, ‘He’s amazing, can he do anything more?’ And as a bowler – me and Jimmy were speaking about it and after the last game – to watch him ply his trade in India is really special because we’re always striving to put on a performance like that in these conditions,” Robinson wrote for Wisden.
Robinson reveals he is inspired by Bumrah’s ability to change the pace of deliveries. He admits that he hadn’t practiced the art of surprise and execution before watching the Indian pacer bowl.
