And it is time for yet another debut for Team India in the ongoing Test series against England, as Devdutt Padikkal has been included in the playing XI for the final match at Dharamshala. In what happens to be R Ashwin’s 100th Test for India, the Karnataka batsman will be playing his first.
Another debutant from the current series, wicket-keeper batsman Rajat Patidar is the one to miss out, who failed on the trot in three Tests. Patidar failed in the six innings, scoring only 63 runs, at a poor average, and hence Padikkal was given a chance. The southpaw, meanwhile had been in fine form in domestic cricket, for Karnataka and India A.
In the last four FC matches, he scored three tons, including a score of 105 vs England Lions.
As expected, the Indian team and Rohit Sharma went with two pacers, with Jasprit Bumrah coming back and joining Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI. Three spinners — Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav completed the bowling unit.
On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel rightly retained their spot in the team for the last Test.
