England captain Ben Stokes on Saturday was seen having an animated exchange with umpire Kumar Dharmasena at the stroke of tea on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 4th Test. England have a serious stronghold on the match as they are looking to bounce back from the 434 run defeat suffered in the IND vs ENG 4th Test.
Stokes would a happy man on the whole with the way things are going in Ranchi. England managed to put up a decent total of 353 on board owing to Joe Root’s first century of the series. England’s bowlers did their job pretty well too, with Shoaib Bashir picking up 4 wickets to put England in the driving seat. India are reeling at 219/7 at the end of Day 2.
One would imagine the proceedings would delight Stokes, but he was seen arguing with umpire during the second session of the fourth day. While the matter Stokes was arguing with Dharmasena remains unclear, it might have stemmed from the fact that the floodlights of the stadium in Ranchi were switched on before Tea.
The clouds that had been hanging over Ranchi all day had made it dark, so the floodlights were turned on. Before the final delivery was bowled and Tea was called, Dharmasena calmly answered Stokes. Following the explanation, Stokes was seen walking back to his mark. With the kind of performance England are putting up at the moment, it is impossible for Stokes to remain unhappy for long.
