Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Thursday said the whole Indian team will be rooting for Ravichandran Ashwin to weave his magic in the IND vs ENG 5th Test. Rohit lost the toss in the final game of the series as Ben Stokes decided to bat first in the Dharamshala Test.
Rohit also announced that India made two changes to their playing XI with Devdutt Paddikal and Jasprit Bumrah coming in for Akash Deep and Rajat Patidar. Paddikal will become the latest Indian player to make his debut in the IND vs ENG series after Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel and Akash Deep and Rajat Patidar.
Ben Stokes won the final flip of the coin in the series and elected to bat first. When asked, Rohit Sharma said India would have batted first as well if he won the toss.
“We would have batted first as well. We have done really well so far this series and an opportunity to finish on a high. There should be good bounce on this pitch than the games before in this series. Good pitch to bat on and I don’t think it will deteriorate that much,” Rohit said.
The Indian captain then went on to heap praises on Ravichandran Ashwin as the off-spinner gears up to play his 100th Test.
“Ash has been a real stalwart of Indian cricket. Such a proud moment for him, his nation and the family. We will be rooting for him to do the magic.”
Finally Rohit announced the changes in Playing XI. “Bumrah is back, Akash Deep misses out. Devdutt Padikkal makes his debut as Patidar got injured last evening,” Rohit said.
