Ollie Pope’s poor run of form in the IND vs ENG series continued on Thursday as he was dismissed for 11 in the first innings of the IND vs ENG 5th Test. However, Dhruv Jurel made no mistake to knock the stumps off.
After scoring 196 in the second innings of the IND vs ENG 1st Test, Ollie Pope has struggled to get runs for England. Aside from the 196, the batter is yet to score a half century in the series.
Ben Stokes won the toss on Thursday and elected to bat first in the final Test. The England openers weathered the initial storm before Ben Duckett was caught in the covers region with Shubman Gill holding on to a beautiful catch.
Ollie Pope came to crease and looked confident as he knocked around the balls in the gaps to go up to 11 runs. However, a brain fade moment from Pope right before lunch resulted in his wicket.
Kuldeep Yadav, who had picked up the opening wicket of Duckett, was bowling the last over before lunch. Ollie Pope looked to negate Kuldeep’s spin and danced down the tracks. Kuldeep, seeing Pope charge, dropped a short ball which spun away from Pope. Pope was foxed by the wrong one as ball spun away from him and landed in the gloves of Dhruv Jurel. Jurel knocked off the stumps as Pope remained stranded in no man’s land.
