Team India captain Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and missed the final day of the warm-up fixture against Leicestershire. Bumrah led the Indian outfit in his absence.
Rohit Sharma is under mandatory isolation until June 29, and will only be available a couple of days before the IND vs ENG 5th Test. Two negative PCR Tests should clear Rohit and make him available for the rescheduled game. The Indian captain was match-fit and raring to go before being forced into isolation.
India have already lost vice-captain KL Rahul to injury. But in his absence, India do not have an official vice-captain. Should Rohit miss out, India would have to opt for a new skipper. Jasprit Bumrah, who was named vice-captain in South Africa for one Test match, would take up the mantle if needed. A final decision on the same will be taken by Chetan Sharma, who reached England on June 28.
