IND vs ENG 5th TEST – India England Edgbaston Test: The clouds of Covid-19 could hinder the fifth rescheduled Test match between India and England. Both teams in last couple of days have reported multiple positive tests from their respective camps. India captain Rohit Sharma tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. England wicket-keeper batsman Ben Foakes tested positive on Sunday. - Rohit Sharma tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday and could miss the only Test match
- England backroom staff members including batting coach Marcus Trescothick also tested positive for Covid-19.
- Ben Foakes tested positive on Sunday.

UPDATE – #TeamIndia Captain Mr Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 following a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday. He is currently in isolation at the team hotel and is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team.

Could of uncertainty over the Edgbaston Test–
- There could be huge clouds of uncertainty over the Edgbaston Test. Players from both the English and Indian camp are falling victim to the novel virus.
- Rohit Sharma who was supposed to take charge of the Indian team for his first overseas Test match, could be an uncertainty.
- Apart from Rohit, Ben Foakes also tested positive for Covid-19 and was forced to withdraw from the Headingley Test against New Zealand.
- Marcus Trescothick also tested positive for Covid-19 during New Zealand’s tour of England as the clouds of uncertainty now take grip.
Rohit Sharma tests positive during Warm-up game against Leicestershire-
The BCCI confirmed Rohit had tested positive via a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Saturday. India skipper currently is in isolation at the team hotel. Mayank Agarwal is being sent as his BACK-UP option.
Rohit participated in India’s warm-up match against Leicestershire XI.

Ben Foakes withdraws from England duties: Like Rohit, England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has also tested positive. Foakes was playing in the ongoing Test against New Zealand at Headingley. He now has been withdrawan from the test and stands doubtful for test against England.

Foakes complained of a stiff back on Saturday and did not take the field on day three of the third Test between England and New Zealand.
In his temporary absence, Jonny Bairstow took the wicketkeeping duties.
Further medical assessment showed that Foakes was positive for COVID-19 after taking the Lateral Flow Test. His availability for the Test match against India is now in doubt after contracting the virus.
In Foakes’ absence, Sam Billing has been drafted into the XI as a COVID replacement. Billings has been part of Kent in the Vitality T20 Blast but will slot straight into the playing XI.
INDIA ENGLAND Edgbaston Test: Edgbaston will host the fifth and final match of a five-match series. The original fixture scheduled for Manchester in 2021 was cancelled owing to Covid-19 issues.
Now with Covid breaching both teams, once again the VIRUS is threatening to derail the fifth and final match. India currently leads the 5 match series 2-1.
