IND vs ENG Day 3: Rohit & Co. end day on 40/0, need 152 to win series

England kick-start their 2nd innings after a gritty 90 by Dhruv Jurel provides safety to India.

And then, there was yet another batting debacle. Yashasvi Jaiswal stood tall again as the rest of the batters failed to make significant contribution in IND vs ENG Ranchi Test. With India still 134 runs behind, Day 3 of India vs England 4th Test will be crucial for India.

India ended Day 3 at 219/7 with Dhruv Jurel (30) and Kuldeep Yadav (17) unbeaten on the crease. Shoaib Bashir dealt the most damage, bagging four wickets while Tom Hartley scalped twice.

England vs India Live Score

What’s in store for Day 3?

  • India would want to close the deficit to within 50-60 runs.
  • But for that to happen, Dhruv Jurel needs support from Kuldeep, Mohd Siraj and Akash Deep as much as possible,
  • Jurel can score quick runs but with uneven bounce on the pitch, batters have found it difficult to score.
  • If India manage to post 300-odd total, Indian spinners need to get in the act. Only Ravindra Jadeja looked the part in 1st innings as Ashwin was completely off colour. Kuldeep only bowled 12 overs.
  • The next big task will be to bowl England out quickly. If India manage to get 5 wickets by the end of Day 3, that would tilt the game in India’s favour going into Day 4.
