IND vs ENG 4th Test: Rehan Ahmed returns home for personal reasons, set to miss Dharamsala Test

IND vs ENG Ranchi Test: Rehan Ahmed returns to UK owing to personal reasons, set to miss remainder of series.

England spinner Rehan Ahmed has left the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series. Not a part of the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test, the young spinner has left the squad to travel back to UK. Reports claim that he is attending an emergency family matter and won’t return for the remainder of the series.

Rehan Ahmed is slated to leave India on 23rd February. The Three Lions announced their Playing XI a day before and Rehan wasn’t a part of the line-up. ECB has confirmed that Rehan is returning home for personal reasons and the visitors won’t name a replacement for the remaining 2 matches.

England replaced Rehan Ahmed with Shoaib Bashir for the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test. Ben Stokes went on to explain the reason for the change. “The skillset Bash has is his release point and how much bounce he can get. We looked at that wicket, we thought that Bash’s skillset will give us more of a chance than what Rehan has got. That’s obviously not any disrespect to what Rehan has, it’s just how we pick our team, based on what we will think of giving us the best chance to win a Test.”

Rehan becomes the third English player to miss the series. Earlier, Harry Brook withdrew his name from the series owing to personal reasons. Later on Jack Leach returned home after sustaining a knee injury.
