IND vs ENG LIVE 4th Test – Ravindra Jadeja Key Day 5: The history and records suggest that 368 runs can’t be chased at Oval. The highest ever succesful chase at Oval is 263 and that too in 1902. India gave England 368 runs to win the Oval test. The home team has started well by ending day 4 at 77/0 & 291 more runs to win the Oval test on Day 5. According to Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour, sole spinner Ravindra Jadeja will play the key role for India on Day 5 & the result will be dependent on how he bowls on the last day of the match.

“I agree that Jadeja will play a massive role in tomorrow’s game because the fifth-day wicket and there is rough outside for left-handers on their offside. So, he will play a massive role. He has bowled well today. He has bowled with a lot of control in the last five, six overs and did create a lot of opportunities. So, tomorrow with a little bit of luck, I think those opportunities will turn into wickets,” Vikram Rathour said at the press conference at the end of Day 4.

IND vs ENG LIVE 4th Test – Ravindra Jadeja Key Day 5: At Kennington Oval, the highest successful run chase has been 263 and that came over a century ago in 1902 when England chased down the target against Australia. In recent times, only Pakistan have managed to chase down a target and that was only 148 in 2010. In the last two Tests at the venue, Australia were bowled out for 263 chasing 399 while India bundled out for 345 while chasing 464 back in 2018.

Hence, despite a good start, England are staring at either loss or draw. For India to win, Ravindra Jadeja will have to get his line and lengths right and create a lot of opportunities. But Vikram Rathour said that India’s seamers will also need to play the supporting role in getting those ten wickets on Day 5.

“Jadeja will definitely play very, very important role. But to pick 10 wickets, I think everybody will have to chip in. I think the medium pacers will also have to chip in,” Rathour said.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: ‘Not concerned about Ajinkya Rahane’

IND vs ENG LIVE 4th Test – Ravindra Jadeja Key Day 5: However, despite in a winning position, India will be concerned with Ajinkya Rahane’s form again. He seemed to have put the off form behind with a 61-run knock at Lord’s. But since then, he has only managed 18 & 10 in Leeds and 14 & 0 at Oval. Despite getting a good batting surface to bat on, Rahane was out on duck. But Rathour said the team management isn’t concerned about his form and it is time to back him.

“We are not concerned at this point. When you play cricket for such a long time, you will have phases where you will not get runs. And that is the time as a team, we need to back them and support them as much as we can. We saw that with the Pujara. He got the opportunity and came back and played a couple of very important innings for us. So, we are hoping that Ajinkya will also get back into form,” Vikram Rathour said.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: ‘We will miss Ravi Shastri, B Arun and Sridhar’

The absence of head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar will also be a big blow for Team India. Their experience and feedback for the bowlers will be missed as they are currently isolating in hotel rooms after Ravi Shastri tested positive for COVID-19.
