Ind vs Eng 4th Test: 3 big records R Ashwin can achieve on Day 3- After an amazing performance with the bat by Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar on Day 2, India would aim to strengthen its stronghold over the opposition. The hosts are aiming for a successive Test victory against England in India and secure a WTC Final berth against New Zealand. Ace spinner R Ashwin can play a huge role in achieving history. As India is likely to bowl in the first few hours, here we look at 3 big records that R Ashwin can achieve on Day 3.

Ashwin set to surpass Courtley Ambrose

R Ashwin, who took 3 wickets in the first innings, is on brink of breaking yet another record. He is just one wicket away to equal Courtley Ambrose’s record (405). He is likely to surpass him with at least a couple of wickets in England’s second innings.

Ashwin is on brink of breaking Kapil Dev’s record

The 34-year-old can also go past the legendary Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi if he takes 3 wickets in the second innings. Kapil has 85 wickets against England while R Ashwin has 83 wickets.

Equal R Anil Kumble, R Jadeja and Ishant Sharma’s record

R Ashwin needs a five-wicket haul to join Anil Kumble, R Jadeja and Ishant Sharma among the list of India bowlers with the most fifers in Test cricket. He has 6 five-wicket hauls in the longest format.

Besides this, India’s ace spinner R Ashwin might go past Anil Kumble’s record of 92 wickets against England in Tests. But for this to happen, he needs as many as nine wickets in England’s second innings. Anil Kumble has 92 wickets against England.

R Ashwin recently completed 400 Test wickets in the third Test. He became the only third Indian spinner and the fourth bowler to achieve the landmark. Others on the elite list are Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434) and Harbhajan Singh (317).
