Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on Saturday continued his rich vein of form in the IND vs ENG series with another 100 on the third day of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Yashasvi looked solid from the start, rotating strikes and hitting the bad balls in the gaps. Jaiswal completed his fifty in 79 balls, hitting Tom Hartley for a big six over long-on. From then on, he was unstoppable.
The batter went from strength to strength after scoring the 50. He went hammer and tongs, picking the bad balls and helping them towards the boundary. The southpaw completed his century in just 122 balls.
India needed a strong start in the second innings to reassert themselves in driving seat. Although India lost its captain Rohit Sharma early, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill consolidated India’s position. Yashasvi was more aggressive of the two. Jaiswal took his time to settle down and then took the attack to the opposition.
The Indian opener played proper cricketing shots as well as sweeps and reverse sweeps, timing each shot perfectly. He hammered James Anderson for 19 runs in a single over.
India will largely benefit from Jaiswal’s form, and it can be said that India have a safe opening batter in their hands in the longest format of the game.
