Sarfaraz Khan came to bat with an attacking mindset and took the attack to the opposition. With Jadeja getting into a shell after going to his 80s, Sarfaraz played shots all over the park. He wasn’t afraid to take the aerial route against the English spinners. Sarfaraz scored runs at a brisk pace, bringing up his half-century in just 48 balls. The Mumbai batter looked destined to go on and play a big innings, but a mix up in the middle resulted in his wicket.
Jadeja was batting at 99 and needed a single to complete his century. Jadeja pushed the ball towards mid on and called for a single. Sarfaraz, standing at the non-striker’s end, responded to the call and took off. However, Jadeja changed his call and Sarfaraz was left stranded in the middle of the pitch. A direct hit by Mark Wood sent Sarfaraz back to the pavillion.
Sarfaraz’s father, who was watching from the stands, looked absolutely devastated as the cameras zoomed in on him. His hands went up to his head in a show of despair.
