After having faltered in the first two tests, lots of questions were raised on Rohit’s form and fitness. However, Rohit played a fantastic innings on Thursday even as other in-form batters faltered. Former cricketers kept social media was abuzz with praise for the opening batter after the century.

India had a torrid start to the third test after winning the toss and electing to bat first. India lost the opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after putting just 22 runs on the board. Shubman Gill departed soon after without troubling the scorers much. Rajat Patidar also went back to the pavillion, as India reeled at 33-3.

Rohit Sharma looked unfazed and carried on with the same momentum he started the innings with. He smashed the century in 160 odd balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes. He became the oldest Indian captain to score his 11th Test ton.

Former and present cricketers on social media erupted with joy at Rohit Sharma’s century, saying the Indian captain was back to doing what he does the best.
