IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Nasser Hussain urges England to bat with same ruthlessness as Jadeja, Rohit

Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain asked the England team to take a leaf out of India's book and urged England to bowl India out for under 400.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain on Thursday said England will need to replicate the ruthlessness of Indian batters when they come out to bat on the second day of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and debutant Sarfaraz Khan pulled India out of trouble on the first day of the 3rd Test.

Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have put India in a dominant position at the end of Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test.

England had an electric start after losing the toss in Rajkot. The Ben Stokes-led side reduced India to 33/3 before Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja struck a 204 run partnership to put India into the driving seat. Debutant Sarfaraz Khan also chipped in with a quickfire 62 before getting run-out unfortunately. Rohit and Jadeja both went on to score centuries on the first day, with the latter remaining not out. At the end of the day, India were 326/5.

Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain asked the England team to take a leaf out of India’s book for the visiting side to get back into the game.

“England will want to wrap up the lower order of India. There is an opportunity for them tomorrow morning, but they’re going to have to bowl them out for less than 400,” Hussain said on Sky Sports.

“It’s the sort of pitch where first-innings runs are going to be vital. That’s where India were good today, with two centurions already. When England come round to bat, they’ve got to be as ruthless as Rohit and Jadeja. In the last game, there were a lot of starts – 20s, 30s, 40s – but you win Test matches with hundreds, and big hundreds,” Hussain added.
