Wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel is likely to make his Team India debut in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test at Rajkot. This could mean the selectors are looking the other way after a string of poor performances with the bat for KS Bharat. The 3rd Test will commence from February 15 onwards, with the series levelled 1-1 currently.
IND vs ENG: Jurel to be picked ahead of Bharat?
As per Times of India, Jurel will potentially make his Test debut in Rajkot. Bharat, who has been India’s keeper for the series against SA and the first two Tests against England, has been poor with the bat so far. In 12 Test innings, he’s managed just 221 runs at an average of 20.09.
“Bharat’s batting has been well below par while his keeping hasn’t been great either. He isn’t making use of his chances, Jurel on the other hand is talent as a good attitude and has a bright future. He has done well for Uttar Pradesh, India A and the Rajasthan Royals in IPL. Don’t be surprised if Jurel makes his Test debut at Rajkot,” a source told TOI.
This void opens the door for Dhruv Jurel, a 23-year-old with impressive domestic credentials. With 790 runs in 15 matches, including a top score of 249, Jurel has demonstrated his batting prowess. Though included in the squad for the first two Tests, he remained benched.
