IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Big blow to India, Ravi Ashwin pulls out of IND vs ENG Rajkot Test

IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Crisis strikes India yet again, Ravi Ashwin withdraws from Rajkot Test

The India Cricket Team has been dealt a massive blow. Ace all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn his name from the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Ashwin is slated to return home owing to a family emergency. On Day 2 in Rajkot Ashwin scalped Zac Crawley’s wicket to claim his 500th Test wicket.

Ravi Ashwin’s absence will be a big blow for the hosts. With England batting aggressively, Ashwin would have been crucial with his magical spin spells. But the ace all-rounder has withdrawn himself from the squad owing to a family emergency.

What happened to Ashwin?

As per BCCI, Ashwin had to leave the squad and head home for a family medical emergency. Later, BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla revealed that Ashwin had to leave because of his mother.

“Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad, effective immediately due to a family medical emergency. In these challenging times, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team fully supports Ashwin.

“The BCCI extends its heartfelt support to the champion cricketer and his family. The health and well-being of the players and their loved ones are of utmost importance. The Board requests respect for the privacy of Ashwin and his family as they navigate through this challenging time.

“The Board and the team will continue to provide any necessary assistance to Ashwin and will keep the lines of communication open to offer support as needed. Team India appreciates the understanding and empathy of the fans and media during this sensitive period.”

Apart from Ashwin, star batter Virat Kohli too is missing the series owing to personal reasons. The BCCI has lent it’s support to the 37-year old. The apex cricket board of the country too has also requested that the privacy of the player be maintained.
