Struggling Shreyas Iyer toils hard in nets, practices sweeps ahead of IND vs ENG Vizag Test

IND vs ENG Test: Shreyas Iyer gears up for Vizag Test challenge, sweats hard in nets to prepare for IND vs ENG 2nd Test

Star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has been spotted practicing hard in the nets. After India’s humiliating loss in the IND vs ENG 1st Test, the hosts are ready for revenge. The Indian batter continued to toil hard in Vizag working on his sweep and reverse sweep shots.

Shreyas Iyer’s dip in red ball has been evident for quite sometime. The dependable batter has failed to convert his chances at the big stage.

Shreyas Iyer is a good player of spin. But with the batter practicing sweeps and reverse sweeps gives an imperative that the Vizag pitch is likely to be a spinning track. In the Hyderabad Test, India were bowled by England’s spin attack in the 2nd innings and ended up losing the match by 28 runs on Day 4.

The question remains, should the Vizag pitch be a rank turner or not? If it is a rank turner then it can be a double-edged sword for the India Cricket Team.

It is high time that Shreyas Iyer scores runs for Team India. Since 2023, Iyer has managed a highest score of 35 in the longest format of the game. With the series 1-0 down and major key players missing out with injury and other matters, Iyer has a big role to play.

After the top order, the entire responsibility of leading the middle order will lie on the shoulders of Iyer.
