Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored a well-paced half-century in 1st innings of the IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad on Friday. The southpaw joined the other Indian batsmen as the hosts continued to mount pressure and frustrate Ben Stokes and co. Jadeja, however, got lucky twice, with DRS coming to the aid of the all-rounder as England tried desperately to get rid of him.
Jadeja piles more misery with fifty in IND vs ENG 1st Test
The southpaw took 84 deliveries to reach his fifty, the third Indian batter to do so in the 1st innings. Jadeja smashed five boundaries and two sixes en route to his fifty. Wicketkeeper KS Bharat played the role of an anchor while Jadeja went about business, displaying a mix of solid defence and aggression.
India’s position remains strong in the Test despite Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul missing out on well deserved centuries. With a sizeable lead and plenty of overs left in the game, the hosts are in the driver’s seat. Jadeja continues to bat solidly with KS Bharat, and the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel are yet to come.
England, on the other hand, have their work cut out. Their bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batsmen, and their fielding also lacked sharpness. They now need a monumental effort with the bat in the second innings to get back into the game.
