Ind vs Eng 1st Test: Records tumble as James Anderson goes past Anil Kumble’s 619 wickets tally with 2 wickets on Day 3 – Having equalled Anil Kumble’s record of being the third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket on Day 2, England’s veteran pacer James Anderson added yet another feather to his cap by picking the wickets of KL Rahul and Shardul Thakur to go past Kumble’s tally of 619 wickets.
Anderson who began the Test match with 617 wickets to his name, got Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli off successive deliveries to equal Kumble. The 39-year-old eventually went past on Day 3, claiming the prized scalp of KL Rahul, before adding another one in Shardul Thakur, to take his tally to 621. Former Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and spin legend Shane Warne are the top two highest wickets takers in the Test with 800 and 708 scalps respectively.
Edge-of-your-seat cricket today but frustrating rain delays mean play is abandoned for the day ☔️
