In the second IND vs BAN Test in Kanpur, Bangladesh were all out for 233 runs. India’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, scalped three wickets for the team, while Ravindra Jadeja completed his 300 wickets in Test cricket. He became the second-fastest all-rounder to score 3000 runs and take 300 wickets.
After Bangladesh’s innings, India started their innings aggressively. Rohit Sharma played some beautiful shots but was dismissed for 23 off just 11 balls. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 72 runs off 51 balls to give a good start to the Indian team. During the tea break on Sports 18, the broadcasters were full of praise for India’s approach with both bat and ball.
Saba Karim on Bangladesh’s batting
Saba Karim criticised Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Shanto. He said, “Najmul Shanto needs to understand the importance of a batting mindset. You can’t just survive; you have to play with intent. Rohit (Sharma) mentioned how India aims to play positive cricket, and that’s evident. I was perplexed when Jaiswal finally fell to Hasan Mahmud, but by then, the damage was done.”
Abhinav Mukund on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Incredible batting
Tamil Nadu’s cricketer, Abhinav Mukund, praised Jaiswal’s batting. “Yashasvi is the definition of modern-day cricket. A strike rate of 160-170, yet every shot was a proper cricketing one. His batting was enjoyable because he didn’t resort to anything reckless. He made sure the bad balls were punished with clean cricketing strokes, and that’s the beauty of his innings,” he said.
Saba Karim also added, “Yashasvi is special. Opening against spinners and dominating like this is remarkable.”
On Jasprit Bumrah’s performance
Saba Karim commented on Bumrah’s performance, saying, “We often talk about the importance of changing pace, and Bumrah exemplified that perfectly. The conditions didn’t matter to him, he just knows how to get wickets.”
Saba Karim on Ravindra Jadeja’s 300th Test wicket
Saba Karim praised Ravindra Jadeja, stating, “Jadeja is a perfect example of continuous learning. The way he’s been taking wickets is simply wonderful. He’s going to get many more. His ability to bowl spin at a faster pace sets him apart, and I believe he’ll keep refining his strategy to remain effective.”
