What a character Rishabh Pant is. Sometimes you might wonder, is he a cricketer or a comedian? Because, how else can you explain someone helping your rival with tactical changes that can lead to your team’s downfall? Well, Pant was seen helping Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto set the field in the first session of the India vs Bangladesh 1st Test on Day 3.
Taking the strike against Taskin Ahmed in the 35th over of the second innings, Pant was caught saying to the Bangladesh fielders, “Arre idhar aaega ek, ek idhar. One fielder here. Midwicket” Upon hearing him say that the commentators had a chuckle, and soon after Shanto moved the field to mid-wicket, exactly where Pant had suggested.
This wasn’t the only chance that Pant gave Bangladesh. Captain Shanto dropped the wicketkeeper when he was batting at 72 in the third last over before lunch was taken in Chennai. Pant has already scored 10 runs more and looks on his way to his sixth Test hundred. The lead was already 420 when Shanto dropped Pant, and Bangladesh were virtually out of the match, but now a defeat looks even more certain.
