With just three days left before the India vs Bangladesh 1st Test kicks off, the Indian cricket team is practicing at full tilt in Chennai. All members of the 16-member squad were present at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in what is Team India’s 3rd practice session since the team assembled on September 12.
India’s Practice Session: Kohli’s pace struggles in Chennai
The highlight of the training session was the battle between two of India’s best, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Practicing on red-soil pitches, the red cherry was doing the tricks. Bumrah was moving the ball both ways, challenging Kohli’s outside edge and his stumps.
According to Sportstar, Bumrah outdid Kohli by moving the ball away and then brought one back in viciously. Hit dead in front of the stumps, the pacer recreated the famous Stuart Broad celebrappeal. However, Kohli was having none of it. The star batter felt that it was high and acted out how the ball was going over the stumps. Naturally, neither one was willing to accept otherwise.
Kohli was also troubled by Gurnoor Singh. The 6.5-foot-tall pacer was selected as the net bowler by the Indian management to prepare for Bangladesh’s speedster Nahid Rana. Gurnoor bowls at 150 clicks as well and was troubling Kohli with his extra bounce. Other net bowlers, Simarjeet Singh and Gurjanpreet Singh, beat him a few times as well. This doesn’t bode well for Kohli, as he’ll have to face some great Bangladeshi bowlers who are in form coming from a series victory over Pakistan.
