The India Cricket Team squad announcement is expected to be soon. Ace southpaw Abhishek Sharma is back in conetention to fight for the opener’s spot. On the other hand, keeper Jitesh Sharma is set to battle with Ishan Kishan for the second keeper’s spot in the team. It also remains to be seen as to whether Yashasvi Jaiswal will be present for the tournament.
After the IND vs BAN Tests, the Men in Blue will take on Bangladesh for a 3-match T20I series. Shubaman Gill is set to rested for the series as a part of the workload management. This is mainly owing to the upcoming 3-Test matches against New Zealand. This is opened a opening in the opener’s spot.
Abhishek Sharma is now in contention to get a Team India call-up. The young southpaw lighted up IPL 2024 with his destructive performances. A huge credit for SRH reaching the finals goes to Abhishek Sharma who lighted up the Indian Premier League with his blockbuster performances. He made his debut in the IND vs ZIM T20Is and will be ready to face the Bengal Tigers.
In Shubman Gill’s absence it is tipped that Ruturaj Gaikwad would be the ideal candidate to open India’s innings. Similarly, if Yashasvi Jaiswal is also rested, then Abhishek Sharma would get his chance in the sun. Despite being of a young age, Yashasvi is now a key player across all three formats of the game. Thus there are major doubts about his availability for T20I series, knowing the importance of IND vs NZ Tests.
Jitesh Sharma vs Ishan Kishan for 2nd Keeper’s spot
Ishan Kishan is on his way to get a chance for Team India again. The southpaw was snubbed off his BCCI Central Contract earlier this year. And as per reports, Ishan Kishan who now has started to play domestic cricket is back in contention for a spot in the team.
Meanwhile he will be joined by Jitesh Sharma also fighting for the second keeper’s spot in the team. Jitesh who till last year was the number 1 keeper lost out his place to Rishabh Pant in the ICC T20 World Cup. The tides of fortune haven’t been graceful on the PBKS keeper who can on the back of a poor IPL 2024 season.
But now with Sanju Samson tipped to be the number 1 keeper, it is a two way fight for the second keeper’s spot in the team.
