“Well, as I said earlier in one of the Bangla questions, India is one of the favourites. They came here to win the World Cup. We are not favourites and we didn’t come here to win the World Cup. You can understand the situation. If we win against India, it will be called an upset and we will try to play our best cricket and try to make an upset,” Shakib Al Hasan said in the press conference.

What about Bangladesh’s strategy vs India? – Bangladesh opener Najmul Shanto and middle-order batter Afif Hossain have looked consistent so far. However, the rest of the batting unit has struggled in the T20 World Cup.
The Bangladesh captain, however, is not worried. He is also not bothered about the strike rate of his players. He wants them to stick to the basics against India and Pakistan in their last-two Super 12 matches.
“Every match is important for us and we want to play with the same approach. We don’t want to focus on any single opposition. We just want to stick to our plans. We are not worried about the strike rates of our players in this World Cup. We are just focused on giving a complete team performance in all the departments of the game,” Shakib said.
Bangladesh wary of Suryakumar Yadav prowess – The one batter Bangladesh are wary of is Suryalumar Yadav. India’s top-ranked T20 batter has notched up two half-centuries in the T20 World Cup 2022. Bangladesh are wary that he could take the game away from them completely. In fact, Hasan mentioned that the team will specially prepare to tackle India ahead of the clash.
“He (Suryakumar Yadav) has been playing really well for them. I think he is probably their No.1 batter in terms of the record in the last year. They have few world-class players, we have not done our team meetings yet. We will talk about the areas we need to look after in the team meetings. If we want to win, we have to take care of all the departments,” said Shakib.
Bangladesh are currently at the third spot in the T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 Group 2 points table with four points from three matches.
