IND vs BAN Highlights: Shubman Gill’s century went in vain as Bangladesh defeated India by 6 runs in IND vs BAN Asia Cup 2023 clash. Gill scored a gritty 121 on a tough wicket. Axar Patel (42) also played a handy knock down the order but could not get India over the line. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib impressed with 2/32. Mahedi Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz were the other wicket takers.

Earlier, the Bangla Tigers set a 266-run target for India after Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Shami struck early. From 59/4, Shakib Al Hasan (80) and Towhid Hridoy (54) added 101 runs to stablise the innings. Then, it was Bangladeshi tail-enders, who took the attack to India after Shardul Thakur dismissed Shakib. Nasum Ahmed (44), Mahedi Hasan (29) and Tanzim Hasan (14) scored crucial runs to take Bangladesh to 265/8 in the last Super 4 clash.

Chasing a stiff target, Team India got off to a terrible start as they lost skipper Rohit Sharma on a duck. Debutant Tilak Varma also failed to make an impression as he quickly followed skipper on 5. Suryakumar Yadav stitched a crucial partnership with Shubman but couldn’t accelarate and got dismissed on 27 followed by Ravindra Jadeja (7). Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur (11) took the game close but got dismissed in the 49th over to end India’s chances.

Notably, India have already qualified for Asia Cup final and will take on Sri Lanka on Sunday.
