India resumed Day 4 with 45/4 and still needing 100 runs to win. However, they were off to a disastrous start. Jaydev Unadkat, Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel departed adding just 29 runs. It was Mehidy Hasan Miraz who wreaked havoc. His fifer kept Bangladesh in the match.
However, Ashwin and Iyer soaked in the pressure from Bangladeshi spinners. With Shreyas taking charge against Miraz, India fought back. But it was Manimul Haque’s dropped chance of Ashwin that gave India the hope. Miraz created a chance but Haque dropped Ashwin on 2. Ashwin went on to score an unbeaten 42. Iyer scored an unbeaten 29. With the win, India have kept their unbeaten run in Tests intact against Bangladesh.

While it is not a high chase, the visitors will still be under the pump. Bangladesh will look to take inspiration for SriLanka’s 2015 Galle Test win over Virat Kohli’s side. India then were bowled out for 112 in pursuit of 179 in the fourth innings. Bangladesh will certainly eye to replicate Herath and Co, but India will count on Pant and Shreyas to pull through.

In the first innings, the left-hander scored a quick-fire 93 to take India into the lead. Shreyas ably supported him with a fine hand of 87. The onus will be on the duo once again to seal the chase and keep India’s WTC hopes alive. If India overhauls 145, it will be the third-highest successful fourth-innings chase in Mirpur.
