IND vs BAN: Shardul Thakur form: IND BAN ODI Series – Shardul Thakur’s honeymoon period is soon to get over in ODI format. The all-rounder’s struggle continued in the second ODI as he failed to take a wicket and score runs lower down the order, when India needed it the most. With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhevneshwar Kumar, and Mohammed Siraj expected to retain their places for the next ODI series against Sri Lanka, Thakur has only one game left to prove his worth before the new selection committee takes charge in 2023. IND vs BAN: Last chance for Shardul Thakur to make an impact in the ODI format before the new selection committee panel takes charge
IND vs BAN: Shardul Thakur messing up with his chances – The KKR pacer has taken only 2 wickets in his last five ODIs against South Africa, New Zealand & Bangladesh. Worst, he has conceded over 6 runs per over and is failing to make an impact in the middle overs. In the second ODI, he bowled 10 overs, but could not take a wicket conceding 47 runs. While his economy rate was a respectable 4.7, the pacer is not contributing lower down the order with the bat in hand.
With Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya not there, India were hoping Thakur to step up with both bat and ball. In the end, all the all-rounder could manage in the last five ODIs was 1, 2, & 7. In two matches, he did not bat against South Africa.
IND vs BAN: Why this is the last chance for Shardul Thakur in the ODI format?
- Mohammed Siraj is doing a fine job in ODIs as he has picked over 20 wickets in ODIs in 2022.
- Umran Malik also has grabbed chances in the limited opportunities in the ODI setup.
- Management is also looking at Kuldeep Sen in the white-ball formats. With Bumrah, Bhuvneshar Kumar, and Hardik Pandya certainty in ODI playing XI, Thakur has to buck up.
- Standing in his way are Siraj and Umran Malik, who are doing a fabulous job at the moment.
- The only advantage for Thakur is his batting skills, but he is failing to contribute lower than the order.
