India cricket team keeper-batter Rishabh Pant makes his return to the Test side after 634 days. The southpaw’s last Test was against the same opposition – Bangladesh – in Mirpur in December 2022. A horrific car crash left Pant sidelined and out of action for more than a year before he made his comeback in the T20 World Cup.
Rishabh Pant returns to Test side
Ahead of IND vs BAN 1st Test, India head coach Gautam Gambhir had confirmed that Rishabh Pant will start ahead of Dhruv Jurel as the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper. The swashbuckling batter was a part of the first round match of the Duleep Trophy where he got the much-needed red-ball practice ahead of a hectic Test season.

Like many of his other teammates, this will be Pant’s first series under Gautam Gambhir as the coach. It would be interesting to see what the former opener has in mind for the keeper-batter, as he valiantly dropped a hint at the press conference that Pant could also open the batting for India.
