India cricket team all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was given a standing ovation by his teammates and the fans at MA Chidambaram stadium as his magnificent knock came to an end on Day 2 of IND vs BAN 1st Test. The Tamil Nadu cricketer brought up his 6th Test century on Day 1, saving India from the blushes after the team’s batters failed to fire. While Jadeja was dismissed shortly after the start of play on Day 2, Ashwin managed to hold on for a bit longer before Taskin Ahmed sent him packing.

Ashwin gets standing ovation from Chepauk crowd, teammates

Ashwin’s 113-run knock came to an end after the all-rounder faced 133 deliveries. His knock was studded with 11 fours and two sixes. As he walked back to the pavilion after he was dismissed, he was given a standing ovation from his teammates and the Chennai crowd.

His unbeaten 102 off 112 balls not only equaled MS Dhoni’s record of Test centuries (6) but also set a new record for the highest seventh-wicket stand with Ravindra Jadeja against Bangladesh.
