IND vs AUS: Yashasvi Jaiswal prepares for Mitchell Starc threat, does special training in nets

IND vs AUS: Despite some failures in the series, Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored second-highest runs for India in the series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been bit of a surprise in this IND vs AUS series. Just when he was expected to do well, he managed to fail, and when he was expected to fail — he came out with century of a lifetime — 161 at Perth. What has now also become evident, is the fact that he has trouble against the red ball moving late, especially against left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc.

Lot on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Shoulders

The left-hander Jaiswal has been dismissed thrice by Starc in the series, despite doing not much wrong against him. So, on Tuesday, at the nets session, the Indian spent some extra time, only to tackle his nemesis Starc, for the upcoming 4th Test at the MCG on 26th December.

Jaiswal spent extra time in the nets, to face left-arm throwdown specialist to get past Mitchell Starc in the nets, as per broadcaster Bharat Sundaresan. Now whether that ploy goes on to help the batter, or not, is a question for later, but Yashasvi Jaiswal has certainly shown the right intent to succeed in the series.

Rohit Sharma on IND vs AUS, 4th Test

Meanwhile, there is a lot of talk around, if Rohit Sharma would finally open in the MCG Test or not? But the skipper made it clear, it was not be discussed in the PC. “Let’s not worry about that. Who bats where is something we need to figure out within ourselves. It is not something I should be discussing at every press conference. Whatever it takes for our team to look good, gives us the best chance to succeed, we will ty and do that,” Rohit said.

That is not it. Speaking about another flop batter Shubman Gill, he said, that his form is not much of a concern, and the latter will find ways to score runs. “Both innings in Adelaide he looked pretty good, just didn’t go on to score a big one. I think he got 25-30 in both innings. I’m not going to look too much into Brisbane, got out second or third ball.

“You can’t look too much into it. But Gill has been one of our young prospects, who is coming up and playing really, really well. These tours can be challenging . It is the same thing, when some of these travel to India, it is hard for them as well. He is quality, we all know that. It is about giving clear message — like Jaiswal we don’t want to complicate too many things with him. He has scored many-many runs before coming into the Indian team, so he knows how to score runs.”
