IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli’s horrendous day in the field continued as after dropping Steve Smith on 19, Kohli put down another catch at slip. This time the lucky batter was Peter Hadscomb. Kohli, who is one of the best fielders in the Indian team is having a nightmarish day on the field in the first Test against Australia in Nagpur. Both catches were not straight forwards ones, but considering Kohli’s lofty fielding standards it was pretty easy. Speaking about the catch, Axar Patel was bowling to Smith in the 15th over of the first innings. Axar bowled a fullish delivery outside the off stump as Smith tried to stroke the ball towards the cover. However, the ball took the bat’s edge as it went towards Kohli at the slip region. The Indian batter tried to grab the ball with one hand, but it did not stick in his hand as Smith got a reprieve.
Smith was on 6 when he was dropped by Kohli and now he has amassed 19 runs before the lunch break. The right-handed batter has some excellent numbers against India in Test cricket and he will be looking to make the most of the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne is also looking set for his 47. The partnership between Smith and Labuschagne has grown to 74 and both have them have looked comfortable against the spin bowling. The home team will want to break the partnership as soon as possible else the dangerous duo might take the game away from the Indian side.
