Now that former India skipper Virat Kohli has struck back to form, after he smashed his 30th Test ton in Perth, everything seems to be falling in place for him. Virat had been struggling for the longest time and had not scored a ton for the entire year, but his 100 not only ensured a perfect win for India, but also send a warning to Team Australia, who have not won a series against India in 10 years.

Once again, the 36-year-old credited his wife, Anushka Sharma for the turnaround. That made Ravi Shastri narrate an anecdote from the 2015 tour, where he was mighty impressive. On that tour, the BCCI only permitted wives to travel with the team, and Virat Kohli wanted to get his then girlfriend Anushka with him.
Shastri then went out of the way to speak with the BCCI, to let that happen. “I called up the BCCI and explained the situation. They understood and made an exception, allowing Anushka to join Virat. This decision made a world of difference,” Shastri shared.

Virat in that Boxing Day Test at Melbourne smashed a brilliant 169, and went on to blow a kiss to Anushka in the balcony, like he did on Sunday, in the Perth Test. Meanwhile, Shastri went on to praise Virat’s 100-run knock. “Seven hundreds in Australia. The big stage, the big ground, the bouncy tracks—there’s no better testament to Virat’s class and resilience,” Shastri said.
“This is ominous for the Australians. No overseas player in the last 15 years has batted in this fashion here. It’s a masterclass on technique and temperament,” he added.
