IND vs AUS: IND vs AUS Delhi Test – During the first hour of Day 3 of the Test in Delhi, India’s spinner Ravichandran Ashwin appeared to remind Steve Smith to stay inside his crease by pausing in mid-delivery. Ashwin started to run up to bowl to Marnus Labuschagne in the 15th over of the innings, but he stopped just as he was about to release the ball. As Smith quickly made his way back inside the crease giving a thumbs up gesture to Ashwin, Virat Kohli, who was standing at first slip, started clapping his hands and laughing as he watched the incident. Ashwin has continued to speak out strongly about the dismissal, known colloquially as the “Mankad,” which the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) put in the “Run out” section last year. While the use of the dismissal is still up for debate in many nations, the Indian women’s team ran non-striker Charlie Dean during an ODI at Lord’s amid much controversy.
Coming to the match, Australia were bowled out on 113 in the 1st session of Day 3.
Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin were the engineers of Aussie demolition. Matthew Kuhnemann, Nathan Lyon, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Peter Handscomb, Marnus Labuschagne, and Usman Khawaja were departed by Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder registered 7/42 which is his best career figure in Test.
Matt Renshaw, Travis Head, and Steve Smith were removed by Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday.
