IND vs AUS: Axar Patel the batter steps up in the ongoing Australia Series
Throughout the Test series, Axar has been ramping up his game with the bat, contributing with match-changing hits further down the order. Axar scored a key 74 in the first innings of the Delhi Test, following up on his 84 in the first Test in Nagpur. He had a 114-run stand with Ashwin as the two lower-order batsmen helped India rally from 139 for 7 to record 262 in the first innings.
Jadeja lavished admiration on Axar Patel’s outstanding batting performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, saying: “It’s okay that you are not getting bowl. But when you are batting, it looks like you are batting on a different pitch. It literally feels like there are no demons on the pitch when you are batting. It feels like the Australian bowlers are ordinary when you’re batting, and it doesn’t look like the pitch has turn and low bounce.”
