Following India’s historic T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, all three of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja bid adieu to the shortest format. They all contributed massively in the format for more than a decade and shifted focus on the remaining two formats. While India haven’t played many ODIs since then, both Kohli and Rohit have struggled massively in Tests. However, Jadeja has continued his stellar application as a batter, hammering a much-needed fifty in the ongoing Brisbane Test.
Ravindra Jadeja comes up with vital knock at Gabba
Team India was in dire straits at the Gabba. Yashasvi Jaiswal was out on four, Shubman Gill threw his wicket away, and so did Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma also looked clueless. KL Rahul, on the flip side, batted with remarkable composure against both pace and spin. Along with KL Rahul was Jadeja, who scored his third fifty of the year. Notably, Jadeja wasn’t selected for the first two Tests. He warmed the bench when India decided to play Washington Sundar in Perth and Ravichandran Ashwin in Adelaide.
Regardless, Jadeja looked in his element. Similar to KL Rahul, he played the ball as late as possible and didn’t throw chances at Australia. Against the mighty Aussies, Jadeja has scored 227 runs at an incredible average of 56.75 in Australia.
