Australia have won their 4th U19 World Cup title. The Kangaroos have continued their winning traditions, taking inspiration from their senior (men’s and women’s) teams. After holding the current ODI World Cup (both men’s and women’s), World Test Championship (men), and T20 World Cup (women), their Under-19 side has claimed the U19 World Cup 2024.
Australian batters resist the Indian bowling attack
India started well, with Raj Limbani striking in his first over. Harry Dixon and Hugh Weibgen stitched a 78-run stand, but Naman Tiwari sent them packing and reduced the Aussies to 99/3. Ryan Hick and Harjas Singh came together and occupied the crease but fell consecutively, and Raf MacMillian followed soon to give India the upper hand.
At 187/6, the risk of getting bundled out quickly was a possibility. But Oliver Peake’s 46 off 43 balls rescued India and parried them over the 250-run mark. Limbani and Tiwari were the stars with the bowl but couldn’t clean Australia’s tail.

Indian batters buckle under pressure
With 253 runs in their bank, Australian bowlers came steaming in. They dispatched Arshin Kulkarni in the powerplay, but Musheer Khan and Adarsh Singh resisted. But the Men in Blue’s defensive approach came to bite them back. Musheer, skipper Uday Saharan, and Sachin Dhas departed before the end of 20 overs, and India’s hope started to sink.
Priyanshu Moliya and Aravelly Avanish followed suit, with India still ending 163 runs with just 4 wickets in hand. Adarsh Singh’s resistance came to an end, and Raj Limbani ended up being a walking wicket. However, Murugan Abhishek wasn’t ready to give in just yet.
He scored a valiant 42 (46), but couldn’t take his side across the line with no support from the other end.
